Arc'teryx Bora 50 Backpack - 2440-2930 cu in
It's a keeper
I've never owned a pack this nice. Design and workmanship are top notch. It packs down nice for the shorter trek while long day trips are definitely do-able as well (maybe even the light overnighter). I've heard that the short side pockets are a waste in this pack. I pack a Nalgene in each pocket with a carabiner to the daisey chain and found it to be no problem. "You get what you pay for" rings true with this pack.
Bora
The Bora had mixed reviews to me. I absolutely love this pack for climbing. It fits everything without question. I love the pocket in the front for easy accessibility. This pack is really hard to pack badly, it just seems to distribute weight well. However, I used it for backpacking and found that it rubbed on my hips, collarbone, and spine. I have red spots all down my back. The padding is not extremely soft or forgiving. Either way, I love this pack for climbing, it'll be a long time before I replace it.
Awesome Climbing Pack!
I just got back from two days of ice climbing in and around Rocky Mountain National Park. The Bora 50 was rock solid and very comfortably carried probably 40lb of gear. Very stable when trekking to the ice falls and when climbing. Highly recommended!
bora 50
I was looking to upgrade and honestly wanted something bigger than this pack. The first thing I noticed about this pack is how well it is put together and how well it fits. This is a solid pack you could use forever. The price is very steep and the pockets on the side seem to small. Other than that, i can't find much wrong with this pack. I've taken the the top pocket off and used if for a day pack many times and it has performed like a champ. On weekend trips i've loaded it up all the way and strapped my sleeping bag on the outside with no problems at all. If your checking on a airplane you can take the hip belt of and stuff it inside, no worries. I originally wanted a bigger pack with a bottom compartment, but even with all my gear and pillow from home I've never needed any more room. If you are a 2-3 nighter kinda person who also likes take day hikes go; for it. The bora 50 has a lot to offer for a pack its size. The top compartment is split into two compartments and the kangaroo pocket also has an extra small pocket inside to help organize all those little must haves.
