Black Diamond Verdict Telemark Ski

Brand : Black Diamond
Item : BLD0779

Black Diamond made the Verdict Telemark Ski wide enough to give you all the flotation you need in the fluff yet light enough to tour efficiently. The Verdict has a 98mm waist and is still torsionally stiff enough to perform well on packed snow and groomers. Black Diamond make it to be used with both Telemark and AT bindings, giving you the freedom to ski however you like. Powder Magazine was so impressed with this ski's versatility that they gave it their Skier's Choice Award. With a combination of C-Matrix cap construction and a Densolite core, the Verdict is one of the lightest fat skis in the world, making it perfect for backcountry use when you're breaking tracks in knee deep pow.

Black Diamond Verdict Telemark Ski

ski judge judy style
I got a chance to ski the Verdicts for a day and thought they were pretty sick through the pow. They're super light so you can pop quick turns effortlessly. I skied the 190cm (I'm 185lb, 6'2") and they were a good length off trail. In the resort they didn't ski all that well. I would turn them over and really try to get on top of the edge, but they would just wash out. If you want a fat ski to ride every day I wouldn't get this one, it's really only good as a touring for turns ski. But if this is a quiver ski and you want to ride only powder, it's killer.

AWSOME SKI
This is the nicest ski I have owned to date. Black Diamond finally filled the gaping hole in the ski industries product line; a fat ski that is stiff enough to be skied on area, but light enough to rip it up touring. I have mounted Dynafit's on my 180cm verdicts, and they are the perfect tour setup (super-light on the uphills for a 98mm waist, but rip on the downhills). I am about 5'7", and the 180cm is perfect. The 190 has a stiffer flex pattern (more big mountain oriented).

Verdict Rocks
I demoed this, G3 Rev, and K2 Anti-Piste. Hands down this was my favorite. It floats thru pow, powers thru crud and isn't too unfriendly on the end of day hardpack. It's lively and damp and the same time. Get your A game ready and these skis should eat up anything you can dish out. The K2 was a little more dead feeling and sluggish and the Rev is a close second, but this one is a little bigger, a little lighter and a little more fun.

BD Verdict
Why do I like this ski? First it performs as well as any ski in its class BUT, weighs pounds lighter [not ounces], POUNDS. Very forgiving, yet first class performance. Some have expressed concern about how far forward the mounting point is for AT, but rest assured this is correct. This ski performs, the steeper the better. On low angle slopes it takes a little more effort to get them on edge.

Really good backcountry skis
I'm skiing the verdicts using dynafit boots and bindings. The whole setup is amazingly lightweight, especially for such a wide ski. I bought them for powder, but they're wonderful in the heavy spring snow and crud.
