Black Diamond Kilowatt Telemark Ski

Brand : Black Diamond
Item : BLD1070

Black Diamond developed the Kilowatt Telemark Ski around a simple premise—make a ski that floats in the powder, turns easily in a tight couloir, and feels stable on hardpack. Starting with a CNC-machined wood core, Black Diamond gave the Kilowatt Ski a torsion box wrap to allow smooth tip-to-tail flex while maintaining torsional rigidity for edge control. A wide 95mm waist gives you tons of float in the freshies, while the 22.5m sidecut (175cm length) allows easy turn initiation in tight places. Mount the Kilowatt Ski with telemark or alpine touring bindings, and see how effortless backcountry powder days can be.

Black Diamond Kilowatt Telemark Ski

I am loving these skis!
After riding a big, heavy, sidewall ski for the last year then strapping these on my feet with some dynafit bindings I did not know what to do. They are so responsive to the littlest movement. Have tons of snap and can handle themselves pretty well in the deep powder also. Not as good as my heavy sidewall skis for powder though. But definitely a one ski quiver. I am impressed with how quickly it can turn and holds an edge with amazing confidence on the hard pack. Not too big of a fan of the graphics...but really who cares about that?

Western quiver of one
I mounted these up with the Hammerhead bindings, and have been thrilled on every ride I've had. For such a fat ski they hold an edge well, surprisingly they move edge to edge like a much narrower ski. Overall, another home run for BD. They turn like the havocs, and float like the Verdicts. If your looking for a ski that will handle anything HERE YOU GO.

Great touring ski
I demoed these skis with a Fritchi Freeride Plus and they were remarkably good. Black Diamond has come a long way in their ski building process and this ski is an example of that. This ski is lightweight and better suited for the backcountry, but if you do ski inbounds this would be a great choice as well.

What can I say?
These skis are incredible. It would be hard to find such a large ski with such precision. I am riding the 185's, they are so crisp. I have them mounted with Naxo N21's and did not touch any of my other skis after I bought these. They work great on everything, groomers, ice, powder, back country. Try to find terrain that these can't handle and I will be surprised.

Excellent all around ski
I like the feel of the black diamond kilowatts. This is a good side cut for an all around ski (if you live out west). The Killowatt carves well on hard pack but it also performs really well in powder and skied out crud.
