Burton SL-9 Snowboard Boot - Men's
Brand : BurtonItem : BUR1170
Pull on the Burton Men's SL-9 Boot and become one with your riding. Burton pulled out all the stops to bring you the highest of high-performance boots. The lightweight synthetic leather shell's low profile reduces overall footprint and delivers a highly supportive boot without the bulk. Articulated cuffs allow the upper and lower halves to flex independently, making the SL-9 Boots as comfortable in the park as they are in waist-deep powder. The super light outsole incorporates Air Frame cushioning to absorb impact after you drop that 30-foot cliff, and it has an internal shank for enhanced board feel and energetic power transfer. Heat-moldable Imprint 4 liners have PU energy panels for hair-trigger response, while the inner cuff's removable J-bars provide adjustable heel-hold. Wrap all this with Burton's Speed Zone lacing system, which creates a custom fit by independently tightening the upper and lower sections, and you get a boot that will take you to riding nirvana. *Available for US Shipment Only.

Burton SL-9 Snowboard Boot - Men's
Something diffrent
I was looking at all the reviews about this boot and was saprized. When I rode this boot I was pumped on it. Felt great and the ride was nothing less then comfterbal. If you can make the cost of this boot it is well worth your money.
so far so good....
I bought a pair of 07 SL 9's last week. I haven't ridden them yet, but they haven't had any issues thus far. I’m don’t want to start a thread or start badmouthing, but I have a hard time believing that the laces on the other boots reviewed blew up like they said. I just retired my 05 Ions (first boot with Speed Zone) with 200+ days on them, and I NEVER had a problem with my laces breaking or fraying. I did break a plastic piece on the boot, but Burton fixed it at no charge, and I had it back in like a week. Oh, and isn't it convenient that another brand is mentioned in the other review? Sounds fishy to me....
Burton SL-9
It is my opinion (and most of my buddies whom I ride with) that the SL-9 is the sickest boot money can buy! Its so lightweight, and the flex / fit is perfect. And as far as Speed Zone lacing is concerned its the no.1 lacing system there is - way better than shitty metal boa systems. You get separate adjustability of the upper and lower section of the boot. Those laces are amazingly durable (and easy to replace if something does go awry - unlike boa) and are a way more efficient way of tightening your boot.
another broken lace system..
I bought a pair of the SL-9's before a trip up to Whistler. The first time I put them on The system broke...and I wasn't even half way tightened!!! I actually saw the flaw in the lace before I even put the boot on. I could see a little "ripple" in the lace and sure enough thats where it broke. The inner part of the lace broke and then the rest of it ripped off without much effort. Its been a month now and they are still in the shop..I called Burton and they admitted that they where having major problems with lace systems and where about 3 weeks backed up fixing them. obviously there are satisfied buyers who wrote reviews so all I have to say is GOOD LUCK and BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK if you decide to buy a pair of SL-9's. **This problem seems to be effecting the entire Burton lineup with the Lace System according to my Local Ski shop in Seattle, WA**
Your specific experience may have been crappy- the boot is NOT.
We are very successful with the speedzone lacing system. A company like burton would never stamp their name on it and put it into so many models in the line if the boot was not heavily backed by our team. We have had little to no warranty issues with this boot. The laces were previously made of kevlar, they are now made of spectra- which is bomb proof. This is more than a quick lace system, it is a functionality. It allows you to independently tighten the upper portion of the boot from the lower portion- getting a perfect fine tuned fit. When you combine it with the articulating cuff- you are getting the most performance and best fit any boot can possibly give you. Myself, and all of my crew ride utah mountains 100 days a year with no problems with the speedzone lace system.
