Therm-a-Rest ProLite 4 Sleeping Pad

ProLite 4 for Size and Comfort
I must say that I am very impressed with the new ProLite 4. I've slept on air mattresses before and have never really cared much for them, but the ProLite 4 has shattered my preconceived notions. I went with the ProLite 4 initially for two reasons, the length and the weight. I'm 6'3" and normally have trouble finding a mattress that my feet don't hang off of, so you can imagine how pleased I was when I came across the Large ProLite 4. I'm also very happy with the weight and compressed size of the mattress. When carrying a backpack for days, the lighter and more compact an item is the better. With the ProLite 4, I not only have a light and compressed pad, but an extremely comfortable place to rest. After a long day on the trail, a nice comfortable sleeping pad is just what the doctor ordered and this one is the best in my opinion. I highly recommend this pad; it's worth the extra few dollars.

How much for a good night's sleep?
Go buy your bargain pad if you must. For me, a good night's sleep is well worth paying for a top-shelf product. The ProLite 4 keeps me warm and comfortable but still packs down to the size of a loaf of bread. Be sure to get the stuff sack.

Great!
I'm a big guy who has used several inflatable sleep pads, none of which I thought were worth the crap. They weren't that comfortable, and I'd wake-up in the middle of the night to reinflate the darn things. I bought a regular Therm-a-rest sleep pad, which was comfortable, however it was too big. I saw a display for the new ProLite 4 in a store and checked it out. It was great! I bought it through Backcountry and have used it several times since then with wonderful results. I'm not too happy about the neon orange color, but nothing is perfect. Another thing that's great about it is the stuff sack that I also bought. The whole thing can be wrapped up in a bag the size of two fists. I strongly recommend this product.

Packs Light, Sleeps Firm, VERY Firm
I'm a long-time user of Therm-A-Rest sleeping pads with my all-time favorite being their LE (Luxury Edition) version of the old Classic pad. The closest match I can find to this pad in Therm-A-Rest's current line of products is their Trails Comfort line of pads. Because I was looking to add another pad to my collection for use when joined on overnight hikes by friends who didn't have camping gear I decided to try the ProLite 4 sleeping pad. I've just come back from a four night backpacking trip with the ProLite 4 and want to report the pros and cons of this pad: 1. It weighs nearly a pound less than the Trails Comport pad. 2. It sleeps much firmer than my old LE pad. I found it somewhat uncomfortably firm. I'm 5'11" and 175 lbs, age 53 with lots of backcountry overnight experience. If you value comfort over saving a pound of load in your pack then I suggest you choose the Trails Comfort pad instead of the ProLite 4.

Not what I'd call 4 season.
While this pad is very comfortable for its weight, it's not exactly what I would call a 4 season pad, well, maybe it is if you live in the tropics. Here in Colorado, this pad is extremely cold, and I don't buy the 3.2 R rating. I've reduced this pad to spring/summer duty, where it excels.
