Cut's Like a Knife but Weighs too Much
Great saw. Packs up nicely, cuts great, easy to assemble/disassemble. However, it isn't lite enough to warrant it on the kind of backpacking trips I take. I guess if you were going to go crazy and cut up a bunch of wood on a backcountry hike, then it might be worth it; otherwise, this is dead weight.


Excellent device for trail maintenance
These are as mandatory as wearing a helmet during the snowboard and mountain bike season. They easily fit in the back of a backpack when riding through the woods. You can pull them out with ease and it’s simple to put together out of the case to trim back branches or fallen small trees, etc. If you are into trail building and making your own secret pow lines in the winter then these are the keys to your secrecy. They are great for mountain biking or even hiking trails because they can remove those dangerous face slappers in seconds. They are not as heavy as the previous commentator stated they were. They do add a little weight but if you put them in your backpack you'll never notice the weight difference. It’s also a fantastic emergency equipment tool and really the reason that we required all of our friends to carry one. In the event that something happens in the woods you can make firewood, walking stick, crutches, and I even know a buddy who used this in Alaska to build a field gurney to carry his buddy out of the bush when he was injured. Overall though these should be required for anyone that boards/skis or MTN bikes trails on a regular basis just for the sole purpose of maintenance of your trails.
