Giro Nine.9 Audio Helmet

Helmet's great! Sound is O.K ...
This helmet is amazingly lightweight, and provided you get the right size, it fits snuggly and is compatible with most snow goggles. It’s also very comfortable, with inner padding that can be removed should you want to wear a beanie or just adjust the fit. The sound on the headphones is okay, but don’t expect an ultra high quality, ultra bass pounding, crisp trebles or head stomping sounds that you get on a high-end headphones, these are pretty much basic headphones which perform their job well, but if you're an audiophile, who needs extra high quality sound, you won’t find it here. In part, because necessarily the headphones are inside layers of padding on the ear pads, and even the best headphones would have trouble coming perfectly clear through so much padding. It’s the price you pay if you want headphones protected on a snow helmet ear pad.


It's Awesome!
I just took the Giro Nine.9 audio helmet to Mammoth this past week and hooked it up to my MP3 player. It was windy and blustery at Mammoth, with snow and moisture going everywhere, but the audio helmet worked flawlessly! The link console is also well-designed in that I was able to adjust the volume control when somebody was talking to me, and then I can turn it up when I'm going down the mountain.


Fantastic Lid!
All of the attributes of a great helmet, plus earphones! Used with my iPod and cellular while skiing and exceeded all expectations. Plus, it's very reasonably priced. Put a helmet on that melon of yours! While you're at it, star in your own action movie equipped with a soundtrack!


good helmet
It is a good helmet, but having trouble with the the connector that changes it from ipod to cell. The ipod was being used and when tried to switch to the cell phone it just didn't work. Sound is great though and it is comfortable.


Ouch my ears!
My ears are not huge, but not small either. The actual earphones have sharp edges with inadequate padding to provide good comfort - It's taken maybe 10 days of riding to get to the point that it isn't painful - I think I'm building up some callouses. If you find the sound a bit disappointing try changing the EQ settings on the iPod or other device. Giro should go with headphone with more rounded edges or increase the amount of padding in my opinion.
