GoLite Wisp Windshirt - Unisex

Golite's Wind Shirt
I first came to appreciate the value of a wind shirt last July when I went packing in the Uinta mountains for a week. My daughter’s boyfriend (who accompanied me, and frankly wondered if I had taken him up there to get rid of him) developed an insatiable appetite for altitude. When we got up above 11,000 there wasn’t a lot to slow down the wind and having a light, easily deployed garment to put on when it got blustery made the whole trip much more comfortable. I commute regularly from the West Coast to the East and had taken to carrying the wind shirt as an extra layer for cold cabins and sudden showers at my destination. At an ounce or two it is completely unnoticeable in the carry-on or briefcase. I ended up leaving my first shirt on a plane and bought this one from Backcountry to replace it. Bottom line, everybody ought to own one of these things and Golite makes a really nice piece. I have bought a number of Golite products at this point and have been pleased with the quality of each and every one of them.

Golite Windshirt , I don't leave home without it
I've been very favorably impressed with the function of this shirt. It compresses down so small it fits into virtually any pocket. It doesn't breath as well as a non-treated wind shirt so I've felt a little clammy on aerobic hikes, but by that point it's usually time to take it off because of overheating. The most impressive attribute has been the water repellency. While mowing the lawn (2 hrs on a riding mower in a constant drizzle) not a drop came through the shirt but my supplex pants (no DWR) were saturated. I've yet to wear it on a rainy hike so I can't say it's been thoroughly tested yet.

Perfect for Running in 20 degree weather
This with DriMove top under it and fleece vest over it is perfect for a nice 20 or 30 mile run in 25 degree weather. While I was of course wet with sweat, I never grew cold because this blocked the wind. At the same time, I was not living inside a terrarium as is the case with many wind proof products.

Great windshirt!
This is a nice update from the wind shirt that I got last season from Golite. The collar is tailored so that it is a better fit when on and it seems to have more room to put this on over a shirt. It has a nice little stash pocket on the right hand side of the shirt that doubles as a stuff sac for this wind shirt. It is really windproof and was nice to have on a windy night in the mountains.

Light as hell
This thing is frickin' awesome. I can't believe how light it is, yet it sheds the wind perfectly. This is the best jacket for those warm spring ski days, or on the summit of a 14er.
