The Variant Carbon Fiber is Life-Link's top-of-the-line adjustable ski pole that also converts into an avalanche pole. The GRIP: The Variant Composite probe pole's adjustable straps are attached to quick release clips. Wrist straps are designed to detach from the grip in the event a pole becomes inadvertently lodged in an obstacle. Over-molded grip features a soft, comfortable outer layer over a strong, durable, rigid core. Built-in 6 degree corrective angle. The SHAFT: By using a short aluminum upper and a longer carbon fiber lower, the pole has an excellent swing weight, less drag, and low total weight. This is the only aluminum carbon fiber pole that is also a probe: unscrew the carbon lowers from the uppers and then screw the two lowers together. The Variant shaft design allows up to 10" of overall height adjustment per size. Sizes: 44", 48", 52". The OVALIZED ALUMINUM UPPER: The oval shape prevents the locking mechanism from spinning, and allows for smoother and more positive adjustment. Depend on a no-slip adjustment with Life-Link's locking system. The ovalized lock cannot spin inside the oval upper shaft. The BASKET & TIP: Quick release ferrule mounted on pole allows baskets to be easily interchanged and removed for probing. Variant Carbon Fiber comes with two 3 1/2" snowflake baskets for soft snow. The Ice Tip that has four points of case hardened steel to penetrate the stiffest of snows. Probe lengths vary with pole length (6'10" with the 44" pole, 7'6" with the 48" pole).
