Brand : Mountain HardwearItem : MHW0462
Get the weather protection you need (and a little extra luxury) while negotiating glacier routes in the Mountain Hardwear Men's GTX 2.5 Jacket. Gore-Tex® Paclite® fabric sheds precip should the weather take a turn for the worst, while this jacket's microtaped seams keep even the most determined moisture out. The strategically placed plush PimpChimp fleece lining—Mountain Hardwear only puts it where you lose the most heat, such as your back—gives you breathable warmth for frigid temps at high altitudes without adding bulkiness or weight. Mountain Hardwear peppered this alpine jacket with convenient features to make your backcountry excursion comfortable. Tons of pockets and dual pit vents all have water-resistant zips. An ergo hood with a laminated brim rolls away when not needed, and one-handed hood and waist drawcords let you seal out the cold with barely a thought.

Mountain Hardwear GTX 2.5 Jacket - Men's
wonderful
Though I didn't buy it from Backcountry (I know, shame on me), this jacket is awesome- and I had to write a review here because Backcountry's customer service is the best of any retailer out there. The jacket is incredibly strong, has perfect workmanship, is waterproof beyond belief, and is very well cut. I use it mainly for mountaineering, and when wearing a pack and harness it still fits wonderfully, and there is very little ride up when my arms are extended above my head. The fit is great. The stowaway hood is nice but I tend to leave it out because when it is stowed the collar becomes quite thick, and with the layers underneath it can get kind of tight around the neck. Either way I highly recommend this jacket. Also, although it doesn't specify that it's windproof, you would really have to work to convince me it isn't. Excellent product. And buy it here because shame on me for not :)
This jacket is sweet!!!!!!!
I recently purchased this jacket because my old jacket had worn out. I got it and was amazed by the quality of the workmanship that went in to it. I especially liked the Gore-tex paclite laminate that is used. Its insanely light weight and the welded pimpchimp microclimate zones keep you warm so you don't get frosty. all in all this jacket is amazing.
Not made for me
This is the second (Beryllium) Mountain Hardwear I tried and had to return because of the fit. I ordered it from here. I have a couple TNF and a Arc'treyx jackets. I wanted to try something different. The bad: The fit is loose. The arms are a bit too long. The body sticks out because of the way the front pockets are cut. One of the front zippers zip higher than the other. The worst part is the hood. It looks like a detachable but its not. It looks and feels weird. Its kind of hard to explain in words. When the hood is put away, it's kinda tight around the neck. This should be a parka instead of a jacket. I personally don't think they put much thought into this jacket. I don't think Mountain Hardwear is made for me anyway. The good: the inserts is nice though.
great jacket- long sleeves, though
I love the jacket- just what I was looking for in terms of weight, packability, and protection. I plan to use this for snow skiing, snow shoeing, camping trips, and bike riding in the summer so I needed something quite versatile. So far, has met expectations. One note, the sleeves seem disproportionately long but haven't been a factor. Instead of wearing my gloves outside the jacket, I do the opposite.
