Patagonia Puff Rider Jacket - Men's
Puff Rider Jacket
I have had the Puff Rider Jacket for a year now in Utah. I am a classic Medium kind of build and it fits me great. Athletic fit, baggy but no Hip-Hop look. Very warm and when I say warm, I mean toasty. If you are the kind of person that freezes get this rig cuz you’ll never have a cold day again. That makes the jacket rad but it is a drawback because I would constantly overheat in it. If it had pit-zips it would have been a 4.5. Now the powder skirt, super lame (poor design). Patagonia dropped the ball on this one in my opinion, if you are gonna do a powder skirt go for it! Don’t do it half way.
A couple of Mis-steps
Probably the most versatile VERY WARM jacket I own. Warmth = my TNF down Nupste jacket. Only problems I have found are I have had trouble tightening the hood when the spindrift requires battening down the hatches. The zipper is a difficult one. I don't know why Patagonia went with this zipper. I doesn't zip easily, especially when zipping all the way up to the chin. It just doesn't go smoothly. Otherwise I love this jacket. I keep it in my pack on all my winter backcountry fun. Even fits well under my Mountain Hardwear Epic shell in extreme conditions.
A fine jacket
I really like the Puff Rider. It's well thought out with a lot of well placed pockets. Its warm and comfortable with a removable hood. My only complaint is the lack of pit zips. Aside from that it is great jacket.
