The North Face Winter Gaiter GTX
Stay away rocky-dudes!
If you’re like me then there’s very little that can keep you from your run...rain or shine or SNOW. These things are great for winter trail running. They not only keep out all the debris, but they attach well to your shoes and keep out the water and snow that winter sometimes throws at you. I keep mine on all year long the Gore-Tex is really breathable so it’s great for summer too.
Excellent gaiter for running
This gaiter is a good addition to the North Face running shoes I use them with. Does a great job of keeping the scree out of your shoes on the trail, and also keeping your feet dry. I've run in a few rain storms since having these, and they do work pretty well. Now I'm waiting for snow to try them in that condition.
Good performance
Excellent performance overall. Repels water, rocks, sticks and makes for a more comfortable run overall. Works well on the new 102 model shoe by TNF.
Not worth it
Living in Minnesota, I wanted a "system" that would allow me to keep running outside in the winter. I selected the TNF Ultra GTX 103 shoe and bought the gaiters to go with. I very much like the idea of an integrated system of shoe and gaiter. I find TNF's execution of that idea, however, lacking. The gaiter seems to be made of good material and is high enough on the ankle to keep out snow. The hook system, which attaches the gaiter to the shoe, is difficult to use and didn't keep the gaiter attached while running. The stitching also began to unravel on my third run, with the Gore-Tex material separating and leaving a hole in the gaiter. The gaiters are now unusable after a week. Overall a good idea, but as designed and manufactured, I'd avoid this product.
winter run
Does a great job with North Face shoes, I ran in four inches of new snow and had dry socks and happy feet. Attaching the gaiters took time, and my dog was very impatient. Once on, it is great to not have straps around the soles of your shoes.
