The North Face A5 Utility Pant - Men's
TNF Utility Pants vs Dockers
I work in a Docker rich environment, and the introduction of The North Face A-5 Utility pant saved me from the world of rubber stamped khakis. I own a bunch of the A-5's (all purchased here) and this latest batch of three pair are made of a different, and less durable, material. The material looks like... well... Dockers. I've rock climbed in TNF A-5's and skidded in them. I wouldn't trust these to do the same!
A5 Utility Pant
I really like these pants. If they were just a little longer they would be perfect. I am 6ft 4in.
Convincing Casual
The A5s give North Face a solid entrant in the casual pant category. They have a cotton-like feel that's much softer than denim. However, be warned that these are about-towners, and not for the backcountry. Nonetheless, this is a great alternative to the played-out look of stonewashed, whitewashed or any other washed denim you can find.
too short
I have a 32-inch inseam, but ordered the long (which is supposed to be 34 inch) and they are still too short. I have some old North Face pants with a regular inseam which were longer than the new ones. I sent them back. If they could get the length corrected, they would probably be good pants.
A5? more like A3's for a rating...
Here's a few of the negative things I've noticed with these pants, light weight material, frayed edges around the pocket and length issues. Utility pants are usually more roomy, but these pants run so short that it makes them feel uncomfortable fitting. I'm 6' and the regular size length (32") is suppose to be long enough but it just doesn't feel right. I think if they where a little more baggier in size and had a boot cut for extra room they would be "perfect". I do like the softness of the material, what a shame in this style north face. I'll be returning them this coming week.
