Yakima EZ Rider



Yakima EZ Riders are sturdy
The EZ Rider clamps held on to the factory Ford Explorer rack just fine for a 1,300 mile road trip. Installation went pretty quickly, however, would recommend tightening a second time after the cross-bar is installed. I found that there was still about a half turn left on the allen head bolt left. Enjoy.


Does what it's supposed to
It does what it's supposed to do, but getting the clamps on the factory rack (Subaru) is a bit of a pain. Once on though it works fine.


Yak EZ Rider
I bought a set of Yakima EZ Riders and 58" bars for a 2006 Forester. Primary use is to carry kayaks. Easy to attach to existing roof rails. Very solid. Without boats on top expect a little hum above 60 mph due to wind resonance.


read those directions!
Set up a pair in about an hour and a half on an '06 Legacy . You have to read the directions and follow the order instructed otherwise you make it harder to install. Hard to get around the Subaru factory racks but once they are there its OK. Nice and sturdy with 2 Hull Raisers attached.


Don't risk your cargo with this rack!
I bought EZ rider towers with for my 2004 Subaru Forester (the only Yakima towers to fit my car). They seemed very stable at first, and I got nine months of service out of them before the entire rack ripped of the car and three towers came loose. We lost a $3,000 Wenonah kevlar tripping canoe. I tend to tighten things well, and so I don't believe this was my fault..perhaps the mechanism wasn't adequately designed or tested. I don't recommend these towers for any of you Forester owners who carry expensive bikes or boats on your car. Buy a Thule instead!
